Iwata Deems Global Revolution Launch "Unnecessary"

Despite the fact that Microsoft launched the 360 in all territories within the space of a week, and Sony has announced plans to do the same this November, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says there's no reason to follow suit. "We don't think it's necessary to do the simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this," was his statement on the matter in a recent Bloomberg interview. Now, I suppose saying something isn't necessary and saying you won't do it are two different things, so it's still possible they could pull a worldwide launch, or at least make the launches closer together than usual. But if they don't, then what does that say about their schedule? They've already admitted it's important to have the system out by Thanksgiving, so presuming they have to get the American version out by then, the Revolution could show up in Japan in early fall or maybe even before then. Could this be related to the June launch rumor going around?

Probably not. The Revolution has had so many rumors about it (the most recent being that it would be renamed the Nintendo Go) that you can't really put any weight into them any more. But the possibility for an earlier Japanese launch is certainly there.
