EGM: Pilotwings Rumored To Be Headed To Revolution

pilotwings.jpgWell duh. The "sequel to a popular SNES/N64 franchise" hinted at by EGM did indeed turn out to be Pilotwings, as if it could've been anything else. News of the game's development for the Revolution was placed in their rumors section, but I don't think anyone has reason to doubt it will show up on the system. As I said before, a sequel was already in development for the Cube (by Factor 5, who have since left to work on Xbox games). Not only that, but it's one of the most obvious choices in showing off the abilities of the Revolution controller. In fact, that seems to be what the Pilotwings series was made for. The SNES version showed off the system's Mode 7 scaling and rotating effects, and the N64 version demonstrated its 3D capabilities and the range of movement afforded by the analog stick.

I think that pretty much all the big Nintendo series are givens for showing up on the new system (they haven't all been announced, but you'd have to be crazy to think the Revolution won't get an F-Zero and a Star Fox sometime), with the possible exception of Waverace. It was a launch title for the N64 and the Gamecube, but after people whined about Blue Storm (it was a good game, dammit), I don't know how strongly Nintendo feels about the franchise.
