Next Oblivion Mod Will Be Cheaper
An official post on the Elder Scrolls forum has announced that the next mod for Oblivion, which will be the Orrery, will have a price set at 150 points on the Xbox, $1.89 on the PC.
The Horse Armor Pack has been very popular, and exceeded what we thought it would sell. Despite that, we’re still trying to find the right spot, so we’re putting a much larger plugin out for less than the last one and we'll see what happens. Your feedback as we move forward in this is invaluable. Tell us what you want to see, how much of it, and what it might be worth to you. No, don’t say you want it free, because these plugins take a surprising amount of time to create, polish, and test (much more then Morrowind's).
It's annoying, but not surprising, that the horse armor pack was popular (I've ceased to be amazed at the amount of money people will blow on completely worthless trinkets, even if they're virtual; see: Ringtones, faceplates, etc). Still, it's nice to see that they're still willing to respond to the large negative reaction against it by putting a larger mod at a smaller price. The Orrery mod which is next will offer a new environment (even though it's not quite clear what the Orrery actually does), a new quest, and new, unnamed powers. Of course, you still have PC people complaining that the price for them has dropped only about 10 cents, but their price was never as outrageous as the fact that the 360 people had to pay 50 cents more, without having access to any unofficial mods to use instead.
The post also gives more details as to the Wizard's Tower mod, which will come later, which will have an even greater selection of new features. Hopefully they won't decide the extra features mean extra price.
