The Saturday Scan
Let's see how long this feature lasts. To be sure, the two greatest issues affecting my life are generating content for this site and justifying my frightening collection of old game magazines that, in total, weighs more than I do. The obvious solution? Combine them! Thus, a feature is born.
Click any image for bigger. This inaugural edition of the Saturday Scan comes to us from the December 1991 issue of Nintendo Power, volume 31. NP held a Game Boy design contest, with the top three winners having actual Game Boys made out of their designs. Surprisingly, most of them hold up fairly well for being 15 years old -- better, actually, than the three official designs from Nintendo themselves which were given to the three runners up, two of which look like they'd eject from a compartment in Robocop's leg.
I'm not even sure how the B and A buttons work on the left one, because they're connected.
If anyone has any suggestions for what they'd like to see in future scans, let me know. Coverage of certain games, certain time periods, whatever. The magazines I've had subscriptions to have changed over the years, but I believe I've almost always had at least one magazine coming in at any given time.

Those are amazing...I'd totally go for one of those green, handled ones. It'd be awkward as hell, but it would look so cool.
