Honestly, it was just a matter of time until this happened, wasn't it?

a 14 year old boy in North Dakota got in trouble for bringing porn stored on his PSP to school and sharing it with his classmates. One of them tattled, and as result the boy got slapped with a C class felony for promoting obscenity to minors. He was also charged with simple assault for scratching the tattler with a key, though whether this was before or after he told isn't known.

It's doubtful he'll get tried as an adult, but all the same it seems odd to apply that law to a minor. Sharing something with your friends as a kid really doesn't even involve the same thought process as an adult deliberately exposing children to obscene materials, so the same law shouldn't apply to both.
