Newsbits for 09-01-06
It was previously announced Nintendo would be holding a Wii-related event in America on September 14 and in Europe on the 15th. Now comes news that they will also hold a Wii event in Japan on the 14th, pretty much assuring that's the date they chosen to release all their information.
- Yesterday it was the PC version, today Ubisoft confirms Assassin's Creed on the 360, launching alongside the PS3 version.
- Contrary to rumors, Lost Planet remains a 360 exclusive, and is due in January.
- The PSP camera and GPS device are dated for December 7 in Japan.
- In Europe, Bully has been renamed Canis Canem Edit (which translates to Dog Eat Dog). America isn't good enough for Latin.
- The Windows Vista start-up sound may end up being unchangeable.
- Madden NFL 07 collected $100 million in sales in its first week.
- Sony wants you to experience the high-def revolution, they just don't want to pay for it. The PS3 will ship without an HDMI cable.
- Gamespot has a Q&A with Bethesda about Star Trek: Legacy.
- At least one Circuit City location is offering to "install" backwards compatibility on your 360 for a mere $28.99. Oh Circuit City-chan, how evil won't you be.
- Because you haven't heard this song enough times in enough ways: The Zelda theme played on a theremin.

Man, that HDMI thing is surprising. I cannot use it on my HDTV unfortunately, but given that to even really experience BluRay at full resolution that cord is required, I'm surprised it's not in there.

You're surprised that a hardware manufacturer would require you to buy an additional piece of equipment to fully enjoy their product?

I didn't have to buy any additional items with my premium Xbox 360. I'd not naturally expect to have to buy an HDMI cable for an HDMI-enabled PS3 when they treat it as its major selling point through BluRay.
So, yeah, I kind of am in this case.
