Industry and multi-console news:
- Game Informer has a long interview with John Carmack and Todd Hollenshead on everything from the big three consoles to Vista (the latter of which Carmack is not too keen on).
- Disney intends to create more MMOs based on Disney properties to go along with the Pirates MMO they've already announced.
- One of the Slamdance judges has voiced his concern over the removal of Columbine RPG from the competition.
- An education science professor at the University of Wisconson-Madison suggests using video games to better train young people for the workforce. He suggests that our current educational system was created to train people for the industrial world of the late 1800s, not the technology-heavy workplace of today.
- Rumor: MTV may be in talks to buy 1up.com. Considering the last rumor was that Dell was buying 1up (based on nothing but a Dell logo on the site that turned out to be an ad), take this with a grain of salt.
PC news:
- Next Generation looks at the big PC games of 2007.
- World of Warcraft has reached eight million subscribers.
- A PC World senior editor was shot and killed in his home on Tuesday. Police believe the man and his wife were involved in possession and maybe distrobution of narcotics.
Nintendo news:
- Square Enix plans to release Dragon Quest IX towards the end of this year.
- Opera would like to add features to the Wii browser and release the DS version in the US, but they say it's up to Nintendo to make those calls.
- Impress friends and family alike with these Nintendo themed sneakers.
- WiiSticks is a beta attempt to simulate devil sticks with Wii remotes.
- EA has detailed -- with video -- the Wii controls for The Godfather: Blackhand Edition. Nintendo makes kiddy consoles.. by the way here's a game where you act out bludgeoning someone to death with a pipe.
- Part 1 of this Game Trailers Gunpei Yokoi retrospective looks at how he got started with Nintendo and shows the various games of the Game & Watch series.
Sony news:
- Sega is bringing back Crazy Taxi for the PSP, but without the original development studio. The game will be made up of maps from the original two CT games.
- EA has confirmed the PS3 edition of the Godfather.
- Sony has corrected earlier reports and says that Motorstorm will be 30 fps in 720p.
- Game director Cory Barlong says that a God of War II demo is coming soon.
- I've questioned whether to mention this at all, as I generally ignore anything analysts have to say, but I'll go ahead and link it and you can decide for yourself. An American Technology Research analyst says that seeing PS3s in stock this early is "troubling."
Microsoft news:
- Konami confirms that Symphony of the Night will break the 50 meg limit on Live Arcade games. Microsoft's Greg Canessa says the limit is staying, but that they will make exceptions in certain cases.
- A new multiplayer map for Call of Duty 3 is now available for free.
- Bungie has released a kind of military brief discussing the specs, abilities and uses of Halo 3's Mongoose.
- The 360 achievements for Guitar Hero II have been revealed. It's awesome that playing a song left handed qualifies for an achievement.
- Engadget has a hands-on report with IPTV on the 360.
- A long series of pictures documents the Xbox manufacturing process. Original, not 360.

The funny thing is that that analyst is part of the same group that said there'd be PS3 shortages through mid-2007.

Beating a song on lefty flip IS an accomplishment... because that control scheme is awkward and terrible.

Are you saying that as a lefty or a righty?
I'm left handed and I'd much rather have lefty flip, even if it does mean my strap doesn't sit right and I have to take my hand off the strum bar to use the whammy bar.
