Dear Nippon Ichi:
I can appreciate that you guys don't feel obligated to make bleeding edge games with elaborate, costly graphics, but now that Disgaea 3 is coming to the PS3, I think you can try a little harder than this.
Or sell the game for $20 because you haven't made any new sprites in six years.

Augh, low-budget anime-style SRPGs. Maybe my least favorite subgenre of game.

at first i read that as "for the PSP" so i was like oh that's no big deal
they try to pull that shit on the PS3, that is just bizarre and abominable and whatever

Graphics != Fun

Graphics really aren't all that important in the long run, but when the only thing that the PS3 has offered over previous gen systems thus far is improved graphics, a developer cannot justify a game that looks like a PS1 effort.
As Bill said, if they aren't charging $20 for this game it's nothing but pure bullshit.

I don't pay for graphics, I pay for gameplay. Why can't an excellent game be full price even if it does have budget graphics? Who cares if you're having fun?

Long Cat gb2 /v/ and bitch there. If you make a game for a system with the focus of HAVING THE BEST GRAPHICS maybe having a PS1 game's graphics ain't exactly pitching in on the team effort.

I never said the game couldn't be fun. And I'm not asking them to go with 3D characters or work in ridiculously elaborate new graphics. But not updating the look of the game at all over three titles, not to mention over two whole consoles, is just plain laziness.
And if they actually charge the normal $60 PS3 game price for a game that's absolutely no different from a $50 PS2 title, then yes, that's a rip-off.

If only they could draw those great avatars in sprite form, IF ONLY.

It doesn't even look like they've improved the CG effects (the explosion, the background) which is just ridiculous.

Even the textures look unimpressive. A shame.
