The first screenshot of Street Fighter IV has been released along with news that the game will be 3D with 2D gameplay. Of greater concern to most gamers is why Ryu has a raging boner.
Industry and multi-console news:
- A new Grand Theft Auto IV trailer is now up on the official site and Live Marketplace.
- The ESA calls the survey about government regulation of video game content linked yesterday "unethical."
- Gamestop will be replacing Dow Jones on the S&P 500.
- Australian and Japanese sales charts have been released. Somehow Wii Fit was beaten in Japan by the new Professor Layton game.
- Sega has filed a new application to protect the Dreamcast trademark, and this has made some people spaz out and think a Dreamcast 2 is on the way.
- Gamasutra talks to Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner about the upcoming movie and the Live Arcade remake.
- Eurogamer presents a defense of Bioshock.
- The sexual harassment case against Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki has been dismissed.
- A minor clue in the teaser trailer indicates that Deus Ex 3 may be a prequel. Or not.
- The ruling for Jack Thompson's Bar trial won't be in until possibly spring 2008.
- British Parliament has called on game publishers to screen their games for seizure-inducing effects.
- Someone has finally photographed the Wii and 360 next to the Ceramic White PS3 to find out which one is truly the whitest.
- Wizards of the Coast is teaming up with Stainless Games, developer of Carmageddon but who has also done some downloadable games. They say they're working on "one of the most treasured IPs in the games field." Could this mean Magic the Gathering on Live Arcade or Playstation Network?
- EA has pulled Army of Two out from its November release date, and GamesRadar sister magazine Xbox World thinks they know why. "Army of Two is a juvenile swear-fest with clumsy controls, a story apparently penned by a seven year old who hates them ay-rabs, laughable level design that tosses you into a cut-scene every thirty seconds, sub Perfect Dark Zero graphics and the two least likable characters in gaming history."
- Speaking of GamesRadar, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed a complaint against them for "operating child-oriented Web sites that violate the law by failing to protect young users." In other words, they appeal to kids but don't have protections in place to keep kids from providing personal information without parental consent. The question is whether GamesRadar can really be said to be "child-oriented."
PC news:
- Newly formed Reloaded Studios will be using CryEngine 2 for an MMO called The Day.
- EVE Online players who use Win XP and the auto-updater with the Trinity Expansion may have borked their boot.ini.
- Richard Garriott says beta testing hurt Tabula Rasa.
- Video games save lives: A boy who feigned death after being attacked by a moose thanks World of Warcraft for teaching him.
- Ensemble Studios is auctioning a signed set of all the Age of.. games for the Child's Play charity. And shipping is free!
- The first real screenshot of Star Trek Online has been released.
- Starting December 11th, you can order a statue of your World of Warcraft character through FigurePrints, and then hold it while you cry.
Nintendo news:
- Europe is getting Square Enix's It's a Wonderful World, renamed The World Ends With You because I guess the Japanese title was deemed too fruity. It's the textual version of making Kirby look angry on American box art.
- Wired takes a look inside Nintendo's new San Francisco office.
- UK tabloid the Sun pits ten of its Page 3 models against each other in a blonde versus brunette Brain Training battle. And we all get a little dumber.
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl won't hit Europe until after June 2008.
- GlucoBoy is a Game Boy Advance title that serves as both a game and a glucose tester for diabetic children.
- We Love Golf features cameos from Capcom characters, just in case you've ever wanted to sink a putt with Chun Li.
Sony news:
- David Jaffe says he would "love to be involved" with God of War III if he only had the time.
- Original PSP game Beats has been released to the PC Playstation Store. It's a music game that uses songs that play off your memory stick.
- Phantasy Star Portable is in development for the PSP (oh, I get it!) that is "essentially a PSP version of Phantasy Star Universe, including expansion pack Ambition of the Illuminus."
Microsoft news:
- Next Generation has a new preview of Too Human.
- And 1up has a preview of Halo 3's Heroic Pack.
- Microsoft tries to explain why you can't be entirely invisible on the Friends of Friends feature.
- Retro Gaming names the best modern 2D games on the Xbox.
- David Sirlin has posted the fourth installment of his series of blog posts on rebalancing Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, this time focusing on Ken.
- A new Lost Odyssey trailer is out, but be forewarned that it contains a shmaltzy pop song.
- Today is 360 sale day at Amazon, I guess: Virtua Fighter 5 for $39.99, HD-DVD player for $149.99, and Beautiful Katamari for $29.99.

There are entirely too many diabetes related games. They should be limited to 1 or less.

I guess new press turns Ryu on...or Chun-Li is in the scene at an angle that we can't see.
And how does the bug that's stricken EVE online escape testing? Seriously...that's just nuts...

The best defense of Bioshock is the amount of shit that I missed on my first playthrough even though it had already been spoiled for me. Even with that there were plot complexities that escaped me, and I found out about, and I went "holy shit".
