New media: Lost: Via Domus trailer 2, Condemned 2 gameplay
- EA estimates that the PS3 will outsell the 360 in 2008.
- American McGee is assembling talent for a new project.
- Gamasutra has an opinion piece arguing that console downloadable games are too cheap to sustain indie development.
- New Call of Duty 4 multiplayer maps are coming for the 360 and PS3 versions.
- This week's Rock Band tracks will be Roam by the B-52s, We Care a Lot by Faith No More, and Calling Dr. Love by Kiss.
- Gamasutra has a lengthy (by necessity) and informative feature on the history of Dragon Quest.
- EA is extending support of the online mode in the Burnout: Paradise demo an extra two weeks to February 15.
- Sierra has announced some of the voice cast for Prototype, with Barry Pepper voicing the lead character.
- Ryan Davis has become the latest staffer to leave Gamespot.
- Midway has announced that Chuck D and Just Blaze will have "prominent roles" in the upcoming NBA Ballers: Chosen One.
- This round-up of magazine coverage on upcoming 2D fighters includes numerous images from Blaze Blue, the high-resolution 2D fighter from the makers of Guilty Gear. They're photos of a magazine page, so the quality is kind of crap, but at least you can see what it looks like.
- The second entry in GameTap's No Country for Old Arcades series takes Jared Rea to the secretive Keystone II arcade.
- The people at Metanet Software explain the differences in the various versions of N. "The XBLA version is a super-improved evolution of the original ... The handheld versions, in contrast, are more of an alternate take on N than a revision of the original."
- MIT's Henry Jenkins looks at why the Chinese are more concerned about video game addiction than they are about game violence.
- The Finnish Christian Democratic Party wants games to be screened for violent and sexual content before being released to the public.
- Hot on the heels of that denouncement of immature "child men" last week comes a separate editorial on ""Man-teens sitting before their kiddy consoles like huge manatees." I get it! - RuneScape's content boss has said that MMO gold trading is like prostitution, in that the problem is the illegal activities that come about around it.
- While currently still in the concept stage, the moldable mouse is an interesting idea.
- IndieGames.com lists the ten best freeware RPGs and Roguelikes in 2007.
- Sid Meier is considering doing an MMO.
- Nvidia has confirmed that they are buying Ageia Technologies, known for their PhysX card.

New Virtual Console titles: Operation Wolf and Columns III
- The Myst sequel Riven is being considered for a DS port.
- The Tower SP is coming to the DS.
- Sega has revealed the various month-specific events that take place in the My Dream mode of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams.
- Racketboy presents a beginner's guide to the SNES.
- Super Dodgeball Brawlers on the DS now has a firm release date of May 27.
- Ex-Live Arcade title Eternity's Child is now coming to WiiWare for $5.
- It looks like the price of Dewy's Adventure has dropped to $20, at least at Wal-Mart.
- Suda 51 says that No More Heroes was originally going to be a 360 game.
- There's a "mixed reality" game using the Nintendo DS currently happening on a small island in Japan. Players use their DSes and some special free software to look for clues and try to find a hidden treasure on the island.
- There's an item floating around out there that is rumored to be a list of all the files on the Smash Bros. Brawl DVD.
- It will probably get taken down eventually, but for now someone has uploaded the Animal Crossing anime movie to YouTube with English subtitles.
- MTV Multiplayer wonders where all the DS drawing games went.
- The Telegraph claims that "foreign criminals" are being given Wiis and plasma TVs to play with while awaiting deportation.
- SquareEnix head Yoichi Wada says Dragon Quest IX is "almost finished."
- An auction for a sealed copy of Chrono Trigger on the SNES has closed at over $1200.
- Circuit City circulars are advertising 20% off all DS games.
- A Firaxis programmer explains why Civilization Revolution isn't coming to the Wii. Short answer is that development started after the 360/PS3 versions and too much would have to be changed/dropped/reworked with too few people and too little time to do it.

New media: Twisted Metal: Head On Extra Twisted Edition gameplay footage, 27 Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII Famitsu scans
- The price of PSP development tools has been reduced by half.
- Japan is getting a Greatest Hits-style series of PS3 games called Playstation 3 the Best that will initially include Resistance: Fall of Man, Ridge Racer 7, FolksSoul, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Gundam: Target in Sight. Sony Europe says it's likely a similar budget line will come to the west sometime.
- Unreal Tournament III will be hitting PS3s in the UK on February 22.
- The total number of PS3 owners registered to take part in Folding@Home has topped one million.
- An upcoming Yoko Shimomura best-of CD will contain tracks from the Final Fantasy Versus XIII soundtrack.
- Ready at Dawn has announced that Daxter has sold 2 million copies worldwide.
- Be forewarned that installing Devil May Cry 4 to the PS3 hard drive takes about 20 minutes.
Microsoft news
- The Xbox 360 Arcade SKU will be hitting Japan on March 6.
- The cover of an upcoming GamePro mentions Gears of War 2, but it's unlikely they have anything official as Mark Rein has said that it's "complete nonsense."
- In addition to this week's Live Arcade title Poker Smash, there will be an update to Crystal Quest released.
- If you download the free Oceanic Airlines theme, you are entered to win a 360. Of course, you already have one or else you couldn't download it, so I guess you win a free wobbly table stabilizer.
- Modder Ben Heck is at it again, this time making an Xbox 360 Elite laptop.
- Play Asia is currently selling an English language version of Lost Odyssey that works on both Japanese and PAL 360s.
- While not officially announced, it looks like Conker: Live and Reloaded and Jade Empire could be offered soon as Xbox Originals titles.
- Amazon's deal of the day is Cars: Mater-national for $19.99. They also have The Orange Box for $49.99.
