I am updating with a headache induced by doing the Ferris Wheel section of Call of Duty 4 on Veteran about 50 times. Man, if we can crawl through a field of soldiers in these damn suits without them noticing why don't we just hide in a bush while we wait for the helicopter.
Industry and multi-console news
New media: Lego Batman trailer, Left 4 Dead gameplay footage
- GameTrailers TV recently had an interview with Gabe Newell. You can read the highlights at the preceding link or watch the video yourself here. He mentions that Counter-Strike 2 is not in development, but if they were to go forward with it they would probably do something like Team Fortress 2 and re-evaluate everything while keeping the spirit of the game. That's not to say CS2 would have TF2's art style.
- The Penny Arcade Expo will have an additional feature this year called The PAX 10, an independent games showcase.
- The Metropolitan Police in Southwark, London have begun a community initiative called Project Gamerz, though even after reading the article I'm not sure what it is.
- Replay Studio's WWII stealth action game Sabotage has been renamed Velvet Assassin. Don't be like me and get Sabotage confused with the similar Pandemic game Saboteur.
- A new book called Grand Theft Childhood looks to "help parents and policymakers understand what’s normal, when to worry about violent video games, and when video games might benefit some kids." Their research dares to suggest that kids understand that GTA is not real life, and in fact that's what they like about it.
- Meanwhile, on the other side of sanity, Jack Thompson has offered to help EA with their take-over bid for Take Two.
- Borders bookstore is testing game sales in London.
- In a recent Conan O'Brien interview, Will Arnett talks about his love of Call of Duty 4.
- The family of the 18 year-old boy who was shot to death during the serving of an arrest warrant on suspicion of stealing of two PS3s have received a $2.45 million settlement.
- Street Fighter: The Later Years concludes with part 9.
PC and mobile news
- The Requiem Bloodymare beta is now available.
- A new Team Fortress 2 patch introduces Tournament mode and nerfs Soldiers and Demomen. Maximum sticky bomb ammo dropped from 30 to 16? Two sets of 8 and that's it?
- On a less painful note, there is also a fly-through video of the upcoming TF2 Goldrush map available.
- EVE Online is now available on Steam.
- Cliff Bleszinski seems to have backed off his statement that PC gaming is in "disarray". Mark Rein probably threatened to garrote him.
- Free-to-play MMO Cabal Online has launched in North America.

- That Major League Eating game everyone is dying to see will be a WiiWare exclusive.
- The Today show wants you to know that old people like to play the Wii. In case you hadn't heard.
Sony news
- The instruction booklet for God of War: Chains of Olympus includes a teaser ad for God of War on the PS3.
- Destructoid has a feature discussing how the controls contibute to the artistry of Shadow of the Colossus.
- Hideo Kojima isn't completely satisfied with the space capacity of Blu-ray. Elements of MGS4 had to be compressed to fit, and as mentioned last week, there are no secondary language voice tracks.

- EGM's April Fool's Day gag this year is Lego Halo. Just in time for the beginning of March.
- Urban Collector is taking pre-orders on the Deluxe Halo Master Chief Mask Helmet.
