- EA has moved on to attempting a hostile takeover of Take-Two. Take-Two's management, as you might imagine, is asking shareholders not to accept the offer.
- Capcom has revealed 1942: Joint Strike, a remake of their classic arcade title 1942. There's a trailer at the link.
- Yakuza 3: Kenzan sold more than the rest of the top five combined to make it to the top of the newest Japanese sales charts.
- Gamasutra talks to Capcom producer Ben Judd about the differences between Japanese and western game studios.
- Gamespot has a hands-on preview of Call of Duty 4's first map pack.
- The collaboration between Cory Barlog and director George Miller mentioned yesterday has been revealed to be a Mad Max video game.
- GameCareerGuide has a feature on what kind of artists game companies hire.
- Brash Entertainment has tapped Lair developer Factor 5 and Folklore developer Game Republic for two different movie-based game projects.
- Rumors say that the Force Unleashed has been delayed to August.
- GameCritics has an article on How Assassin's Creed Killed Its Own Potential, about the realism of the running and climbing mechanic being undermined by the fakeness of that whole goofy memory machine thing.
- And while we're piling on, here's another Assassin's Creed critique, though AC is really just an example used in a larger critique of "glitch jumping vs. pretty jumping." That is, jumping when the player pushes the button vs. jumping after the button press when the character has moved to the right frame of animation to jump seamlessly.
- Epic's Unreal Engine 4 will be targetted at the next generation of consoles. "PCs will follow after that."
- Hip-hop DJ Green Lantern will have a whole radio show in Grand Theft Auto IV, "filled with nothing but exclusive music I produced for the game."
- The ACLU may file suit against the city of Troy, NY after the incident linked yesterday in which building code was used to shut down a controversial video game art exhibit.
- Lost Planet: Colonies will be $30, but won't the multiplayer won't be compatible with the original Lost Planet.
- The debate over Bully: Scholarship Edition is still going on for some reason.
- QBlog breaks down the inaccuracies in recent reports about gamers swapping genders in MMOs.
- Capcom's official blog has a bigger, cleaner image of El Fuerte, the recently revealed Street Fighter IV character, if you're keeping these all in a folder or something.
- The newest issue of Game Informer has details on Obsidian's new action RPG Alpha Protocol. Always good to go with a name that sounds like a Tek Jansen adventure.

- A number of Atari PC titles are now available on Steam.
- TG Daily has posted part three of their Tim Sweeney interview.
- Everquest has reached its 9th anniversary, and Sony is inviting people to come back to celebrate.
- The people behind Puzzle Quest have launched Warlords Online, a "free browser-based game set in the world of Etheria."
Nintendo news

- Eidos has announced a Looney Tunes rhythm game called Looney Tunes: Cartoon Concerto. It's basically Elite Beat Agents.
- Bomberman is coming to WiiWare.
- Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One has been announced for the DS.
- The North American release of We Love Golf will add four player online matches.
- If you're running low on Japanese things to complain about, you can turn your attention to Cleaning Squadron Clean Keeper, a Wii game where you brush big pieces of dirt off girls. I guess it's dirt; it looks more like candy-colored star shapes with faces on.
Sony news
- PS3 firmware 2.17 is out now and improves the "operating stability" of some online PS3 games.
- Joystiq has a short interview with NIS America about Disgaea 3.
- The ESRB has rated Fatal Inertia Ex for the PS3.
- Amazon's deal of the day is Rock Band (game only) on the PS2 for $29.99. Put that $20 towards buying a new system.
Microsoft news
New content: Guitar Hero III tracks (free)
New media: Bionic Commando Rearmed screenshots, Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix screenshots
- Both Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Bionic Commando Rearmed have been allowed by Microsoft to exceed the 150 meg file limit imposed on Live Arcade games. Under the limit, Rearmed would have had to lose bonus content that would be in the PC and PS3 versions, and Street Fighter would not have been able to run in 1080p.
- Microsoft has said they are "not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience."
- Wanako Studios has announced Assault Heroes 2.
- Expansion packs for N+ are in the works, with each pack containing about 200 levels.
- DICE has announced a multiplayer beta test for Battlefield: Bad Company.
