How many people are actually excited by the Tekken movie? Anyone? I mean, beyond the fact that it's a game movie and game movies suck, Tekken just seems like really boring source material. But I never cared that much about the games anyway, so maybe everyone who isn't me can't want to see the complex relationships between Asian Guy In Silly Pants and Other Asian Guy In Silly Pants more thoroughly explored. Anyway, this is one of the guys who's in that movie. He's apparently mad about his trailer. This link has a second picture of one of those other guys.

- The New York Times has an interview with Niko Bellic's voice actor, Michael Hollick. The article mainly focuses on the concern over the current pay system for game actors, in which they make no royalties or residuals. "I don’t blame Rockstar. I blame our union for not having the agreements in place to protect the creative people who drive the sales of these games. Yes, the technology is important, but it’s the human performances within them that people really connect to, and I hope actors will get more respect for the work they do within those technologies.” Variety's Cut Scene blog clarifies a couple points.

- The Hollywood Reporter says that Jake Gyllenhaal has been signed on to play the lead in the Prince of Persia movie.
- Capcom USA's business development director offers some advice to indie devs thinking about compromising their vision: "Whore yourself and you'll get buried."
- This week's Zero Punctuation review is a Painkiller retrospective.
- Gamasutra looks at how the recent earthquake has affected China's game industry. "China has declared May 19, 20 and 21 as national days of mourning for the victims of the earthquake and has suspended all forms of public entertainment during those three days. This includes, concerts, television shows, movies and for the first time, even online games."
- Gamespot's Brian Ekberg wrote up his Hulk: Ultimate Destruction preview entirely in Hulk-speak. "For some reason, Hulk game let Hulk take subway to get from one spot to next. Hulk surprised New York let Hulk use subway after he destroy half of city, but Hulk must admit, it convenient."

- Midway has released a shot of what Superman looks like in Mortal Kombat vs. DC.

PC and mobile news

- A tease in PC Gamer about their secret cover story for next issue has sparked yet another round of Diablo 3 rumors.
- Allakhazam has an interview with Vanguard developer Thom Terrazas about the state of the game. "Everyone may have a different name for it but at the end of the day, optimization challenges were the biggest hurdle faced at launch. We lost too many customers at launch due to the inability to run the game smoothly and we have been making huge improvements in this area in every update since."
- WiiWare title Eternity's Child is coming to Steam next month.
- Conceptis has opened a new website for logic puzzles that can be played online. Right now it's mostly variants on picross and sudoku.
- Chinese MMO company Shanda is being sued by a Legend of Mir II player over the loss of 31 virtual items.
Nintendo news
- Shocking no one, Square Enix has made it official that the Dragon Quest IV, V, and VI DS remakes are coming to the US.
- Infendo makes their picks for the five worst DS games and five worst Wii games ever.
- Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat? has been announced for Europe.
- Nippon Ichi is making a new Marl Kingdom game for the DS. There have been several entries in this series, although the only one to be released in America was Rhapsody on the PSX.
- The Wii has had the highest software sales in its first 18 months than any other console.
- DS Fanboy has a guide to homebrew.
- The ESRB has rated Mistwalker's DS title ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat, more or less confirming it for US release.
- Nintendo's excuse for why Brawl is taking so long to get to Europe seems to just be "we're real busy." Nintendo's Laurent Fischer sez: "But localisation is only one thing: production is another thing also, because at the moment we are not just producing Smash Bros for Europe, we're producing hundreds of first party games and third party games for locations all over the world."

- Sony says it was a management decision to delay Killzone 2, not a development problem. "Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn’t have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season."
- Sony has announced a Madden NFL 09 PSP bundle containing the game, a metallic blue PSP, a voucher for the downloadable rhythm game Beats, the UMD video NFL: In Just One Play, and a 1GB memory stick.
- Amazon's deal of the day is the Guitar Hero III bundle for $59.99 on the PS3 or $49.99 on the PS2.
