Wednesday Newspost for June 18, 2008

A new Sonic Unleashed trailer is out (better quality here) and once again it provides a mix of fear and hope. There are way too many rails -- trying to hit thin strips of metal hanging out in the middle of nothing, especially at speed, has been a major annoyance in all the 3D Sonics. And this button-pressing section seems rather Quick Time Event-ish and not in the spirit of things, not to mention that such gameplay is rarely any fun.
But on the plus side, there are no awful story cutscenes or sidekick appearances, the music is refreshingly lyric-free, and the lovely city landscape goes on for miles in the distance. And boy, that little bastard's fast.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about Firefox 3 that you don't like? I'm using it right now and I'm enjoying it personally.

I can't believe my eyes, that Sonic trailer looks amazing. Kinda looks like Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which was one of my favorite games from last generation.

Re: Firefox 3
The new address bar is a terrible idea. First, it searches your bookmarks, which is idiotic -- the whole point of bookmarks is that you can just click and go. If I wanted to go to one of my bookmarks, I wouldn't have started typing in the first place.
It also searches your history, but it tries to sort the results based on what it thinks you're looking for. If I'm searching my history, it's usually for something I saw once, several days ago that I've since forgotten -- in other words, the last thing Firefox thinks I want to see again.
Searching directly from your history has actually been made worse, as the results are no longer sorted by filters like Last Visited, leaving you to poke through an alphabetical list for the page title you only half-remember.
And half my extensions don't work now, but that's to be expected.
So there's really no strong reason to upgrade and several reasons not to.

you can switch the address bar to the old style
i just searched my history and it came up sorted by last visited. then i sorted by name and had to turn on the last visited column with the right-click menu to re-sort it like that.

Fisher got axed ? You mean Ironside, don't you.

Oops. Fixed.
Also, upon further investigation, you can get your history search results sorted properly if you use the library. But just hitting the history button in your toolbar and searching from the resulting sidebar won't. Which is, in itself, dumb.
