I'm a giant geek and even I shudder at the idea of gaming-themed weddings. But while I question the concept, I can't deny the quality of the execution -- that's a pretty nice looking cake. There are a number of close-up photos here of all the little details, along with the bride and groom's -- ugh -- Mii figurines.
Industry and multi-console news
- The Florida Bar has recommended enhanced disbarment for Jack Thompson, meaning he would be prohibited from applying to practice law again for ten years. For his part, Thompson walked out on the hearing, saying the judge had no authority to hear the case.
- Tecmo has responded to Itagaki's departure and lawsuit, claiming the damages he seeks are the product of "distortions."
- GameTrailers has a Pop-Up Video style analysis of the Resident Evil 5 trailer, pointing out various details that may have gone by too quickly for you to notice.
- Bruce Willis is currently in negotiations to star as Kane in a Kane & Lynch movie.
- The producer of Resident Evil 5 says the game wasn't changed in response to racism claims.
- Next Generation offers suggestions on five ways to jumpstart Atari.
- EA has agreed to hold off on buying Take Two until the FTC has completed a probe.

- Kotaku's Leigh Alexander attempts to debunk the feminist argument against GTA4.
- Gaming Verdict has a history of Bullfrog, Peter Molyneux's old company, written by someone who was there from the early days.
- Brett Ratner's new branding company has been working on promoting Guitar Hero for a while, but apparently their marketing plan consists of just sticking a plastic guitar in everything. Previously it showed up in Mariah Carey's Touch My Body video, and now Miley Cyrus will be smashing a Guitar Hero guitar in her next music video. Both videos were directed by Ratner.
- The Sci-Fi Channel has its own gaming blog now.
- Ken and Ryu will not be appearing in the new Street Fighter movie.
- Ubisoft says Avatar's 3D visuals only work on a specific kind of TV.
- Level Up has a trailer for The Jace Hall Show, which is a five-minute webisode (I hate that word) series with Monolith founder Jason Hall talking to celebrities and developers alike about games. Apparently Laurence Fishburne is into Prince of Persia?
- Pizza Hut is running a contest to win a $10,000 Gamers Fantasy Package.
- Jalopnik has a look at what real-life cars inspired the vehicles of GTA4. There's actually a website called the Internet Games Car Database that does this for lots of different games, from pointing out that the Sentinel in GTA4 is a BMW M3 (which the Jalopnik feature overlooked), to identifying Sam & Max's police car as a 1960 DeSoto Fireflite.

- Insomniac is opening a new studio in North Carolina.
- GameTrailers has uploaded part four of their Metal Gear retrospective.
- MGS4 has received a perfect score from Famitsu.
- A listing in a Japanese game store finally gives some clue as to what the hell Afrika is. As many guessed, you are a photojournalist taking pictures of animals, and you can unlock real life photos and footage as you build up your "Animal Library."

- NinjaBee has announced A Kingdom for Keflings for Live Arcade.
- Microsoft admits their store design isn't great. “I think a lot of that is we built Xbox Live Marketplace for a few hundred items and now we have 17,000 items. We built a small store and we filled it with lots of lots of stuff. We’re feeling some of these growing pains and [the new policy] is one of those tradeoffs we’ve had to make.”
- Amazon's deal of the day is Mass Effect for $34.99 and Gears of War for $34.99.
