More E3 bits and bobs. As a programming note, Friday's newspost will probably end up a Saturday newspost this week, though not due to anything E3 related. Speculation that the move is Dark Knight related will receive no comment.
New media: Major Minor's Majestic March trailer, Sonic Unleashed trailer (with beast Sonic gameplay), Duke Nukem Trilogy trailer -- It says something that people are confused as to whether this is a joke or not
- Microsoft claims that they canceled Bungie's new Halo announcement because there was too much other good stuff at their conference -- what they call "an embarrassment of riches." They're half right.
- John Riccitiello has confirmed a Knights of the Old Republic MMO.
- In an even more casual announcement of a big sequel, Miyamoto has said that he's working on a new Pikmin.
- Nintendo might make new Wii remotes with built-in Motion Plus. Then again, they might not. "[It] might be good to keep it as an attachment we only use for certain software."
- Konami has announced Gradius Rebirth for WiIWare.
- Capcom explains how Dead Rising on the Wii will be different from the 360 version. They've taken photography out, which seems a fairly large point.
- The newest Japanese sales chart sees Persona 4 debuting at number one with 193,000 units sold, almost more than the rest of the top ten put together.
- Aiming for an even a more niche geek choice than Trogdor in Guitar Hero II, MC Frontalot's Achewood anthem Livin' at the Corner of Dude & Catastrophe will be available as DLC for Rock Band.
- Freezepop won't be on the Rock Band 2 disc, but may come later as DLC.
- Rock Band 2 adds a "no fail" option for all your drunk party-goer needs.
- Major Nelson shows you what your old dashboard themes might look like in the new dashboard layout.
- Blizzard has unveiled an achievement system for World of Warcraft.
- Pyramid Head appears in Silent Hill: Homecoming, because they really want to run him into the ground and deprive him of any value he may have once had.
- According to new NPD data, the Wii is now the console leader in America with 10.9 million sold.
- The Covenant will be playable in Halo Wars.
- Castle Crashers, Geometry Wars 2, Galaga Legions, Bionic Commando Rearmed and Braid are all coming to Live Arcade within 4 to 6 weeks.
- Ed Boon says that a "dark" and "gritty" Mortal Kombat 8 was in the works before it was scrapped for MK vs. DC.
- Wii Music will feature licensed as well as public domain tracks.
- Not long after being announced as a voice in Fable 2, Stephen Fry has also been hired to do the narration in Little Big Planet.
- Spore's space phase will last 15 to 20 hours and have one ending. I'm surprised the game has an ending.
- Gran Turismo 5 may not appear before 2010. In the meantime, Prologue will be expanded with new tracks and cars.
- EA explains how ballerinas helped them fight simulation sickness in Mirror's Edge.
- Some guy got kicked out of E3 for sneaking into a rehersal of Sony's press conference and posting what he heard to the Internet -- as it was happening. "Everything we were saying was getting posted within 15 minutes on the Internet. They found some guy on the third floor balcony laying down taking notes and calling it in to a service."
