Two posters promoting the upcoming Max Payne movie have been released. I prefer this one, as it more directly calls back the series box art, while the other one joins along with the trailer in making this look like a sequel to Constantine.

New media: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 trailer, Dead Space: Downfall trailer
- 1up has more details on the Watchmen games.
- Brawl is on top again in the new Australian sales chart, while the DS Dragon Quest V remake debuted at number one on the Japanese chart.
- DC will be producing a limited series comic based on Mirror's Edge.
- Epic says Unreal Engine 4 will debut in the next console generation.
- EA producer Nick Channon says that an open-world approach to Mirror's Edge would have watered it down. "I think a lot of people think nowadays that open world is the way to go, and it's the next-gen thing. You know, I don't believe it is. It's clearly right for some games, absolutely, but you can actually get a lot more in at times with more of a level-based [structure]."
- Spinter Cell Conviction has been delayed until the 2009-10 fiscal year.
- The Parents Television Council has released another secret shopper report, testing retailers for how often a minor was able to buy M-rated games. The lesson is that if you're 12 and you want GTA, go to Circuit City.
- A Dragonforce track pack is coming to Guitar Hero III.
- A rumored Guitar Hero: World Tour setlist is floating around the Internet.
- The official Fallout website has debuted the first in a series of Fallout comics done by Penny Arcade.
- Ars Technica has an interview with some of the people from OCRemix about how their work got into Street Fighter II HD.
- The developers of the Quantum of Solace game acknowledge that past Bond games have been crap. “I’m sure the series pissed off a lot of gamers over the last few years as the games started to go downhill, but we have no control over that.”
- Alpha Protocol will have sex scenes, so Fox News, get on it. I can't decide if the following is unpleasantly chauvinistic or just indicative of how game developers continue to treat character relationships like levels to be completed: "In fact, he can 'get' all of the game’s women if he wanted to. Rucinski told me it was possible to have sex with all the females, and that the sex scenes were similar to how 'Mass Effect' treated its intimate moments. ... And although the women are integral to the story, there’s no need to interact with them beyond missions."

New GameTap titles: Fallout, Aveyond 2, Battle Chess
- Now that Games for Windows Live is going free, Microsoft will be refunding subscribers.

- Outspark has announced a free-to-play shooter called Blackshot.
- Hasbro is suing the creators of the Scrabulous Facebook app after requests to pull the game were ignored.
- Amazon's deal of the day is Neverwinter Nights 2 (Mac) for $22.99.

- Reggie Fils-Aime notes the Wii storage issue "is becoming much more of a mainstream problem, which is why we have a sense of urgency to solve it."
- Despite the system being only 3 years old, VGPC can already name 5 rare DS games.
- KH Insider has translated whatever information there is to be had on the recently opened Japanese Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days website. An ad in the instruction booklet for Dragon Quest V also suggests that 358/2 Days is coming this year in Japan.
- Nintendo has debuted a bonus content feature in the Wii Shop Channel in Japan. It could be used to redeem codes for extra stuff in the future.
- Digital manga is coming to Wii Ware in Japan.

- Qore subscribers will be getting Resistance 2 beta invites. However, Insomniac says there will be several ways to get in. "The best way which will give you the earliest access to the beta will involve a pre-order program that should be announced soon."
- According to a Japanese magazine scan, Triggerheart Exelica Enhanced is coming to the PS2.
- A Facebreaker demo is coming August 7.
- Supposedly a "major" PS3 exclusive is being announced August 3rd. It's not an RPG, not an FPS, and not a new Twisted Metal.
- A Metal Gear Online tournament will be taking place at Comic Con.
- PixelJunk Eden will have trophy support.
